Project description

"Floating Appetite" is a contemporary sculpture that transforms the craftsmanship of hyper-realistic food modeling into a visual language of contemporary art. By using the iconic Taiwanese beef noodles as the core symbol, the work explores the intricate entanglement between food, desire, and cultural identity.

Suspended noodles defy gravity, freezing the moment of consumption and evoking the suspended state of human desire. Through meticulous hand-crafted elements such as the braised beef, noodles, broth, and side dishes, combined with an exaggerated floating presentation, the piece creates a surreal culinary scene beyond the dining table.

This work invites viewers to confront the tension between visual pleasure and physical inaccessibility, challenging the conventional perception of food as merely a consumable object. It provokes a dialogue on the intersections of food, body, culture, commerce, and fantasy within contemporary society.
