Project description
Launched in 2022, the “Hsinchu's Breeze Carries the Arts —Art for All” program by the Hsinchu County Cultural Foundation exemplifies a strategic application of ESG principles, specifically targeting social inclusion and cultural sustainability. Central to the initiative is a robust commitment to cultural equity, systematically channeling high-quality artistic resources into all 13 townships and cities across Hsinchu County. This approach ensures that the benefits of cultural enrichment are distributed equitably, reinforcing the foundational goal of returning art to the community.
Over the past four years, the program has systematically engaged more than 150,000 participants, measurably reducing the urban-rural disparity in cultural access and embedding artistic experiences into daily life. By orchestrating a series of touring performances that highlight local traditions such as Hakka opera, the initiative integrates modern theater, visual arts, and a spectrum of creative disciplines. This multifaceted approach not only safeguards artistic heritage but also drives innovation, establishing an ongoing dialogue between traditional forms and contemporary expression. Collectively, these efforts advance a resilient and inclusive cultural ecosystem that delivers sustained value to all residents of Hsinchu County.
The tour commenced in 2022, embarking on an enriching journey through Hsinchu County. This exploration included visits to charming campuses, scenic parks, and vibrant community squares. Each event was thoughtfully crafted to resonate with the distinct characteristics of the various townships, featuring delightful Hakka opera performances, engaging family-friendly plays, and captivating outdoor movie screenings.
Building on this foundation, 2023 marks the introduction of the “Taiwan Rural Truck Art Project.” This innovative initiative unveils a mobile stage designed to deliver free, high-quality performances to families in every corner of the county, thereby enhancing accessibility and fostering community engagement. In 2024, the project is set to expand significantly, integrating Hakka opera with local narratives and contemporary issues to create a dynamic platform for cultural heritage.
Looking ahead to 2025, the program will present an ambitious, year-long celebration that includes a diverse array of cross-genre family plays by the renowned Taiwan Acrobatic Troupe and the mesmerizing “Ocean Celebration” by the Diabolo Dance Theatre. Additional highlights will include striking exhibitions of calligraphy and photography. Throughout these events, organizers will blend varied artistic forms with cutting-edge technology, curating a rich, immersive experience that entertains, educates, and inspires all participants. This ongoing commitment to cultural expression and community connection is poised to leave a lasting, positive impact on Hsinchu County and its residents.
“Hsinchu's Breeze Carries the Arts—Art for All” exemplifies five core principles: county-wide tours, free admission, family-friendly orientation, diverse programming, and deep community engagement. By weaving ESG principles into the fabric of local cultural governance, the initiative sets a benchmark for sustainable cultural development.
Through sustained touring performances, the program ensures that residents in remote areas have meaningful access to professional art, thereby fostering social inclusion and bridging urban-rural divides. The integration of traditional Hakka opera with contemporary performances highlights a commitment to cultural sustainability, keeping heritage alive while embracing modernity.
Moreover, the flexible use of public spaces—from temple festival stages to Taoyuan International Airport—significantly broadens the reach and visibility of the arts. Collaborating closely with the county government and the cultural foundation, the program drives urban and rural tourism, while seamlessly connecting cultural activities with the local economy. This holistic approach generates mutual benefits for both local industry and the broader community, reinforcing the vital role of the arts in regional development.
