Project description

This project combines gifts, dining, and exhibition in one quiet space. Inspired by the feeling of a small oasis in the city, the three-floor layout invites people to slow down and spend time together. The first floor is for choosing gifts and staying awhile, the second for exhibition and shared experiences, and the third for quiet rest and conversation.

In a time shaped by fast consumption and digital communication, human connection is often reduced to brief exchanges. In many East Asian cultures, gift-giving is a way of expressing care and relationship through small gifts shared with others. Over time, this tradition has gradually become a simple act of buying and giving. This project was created to restore a deeper sense of connection through space. By combining dining, exhibition, and places to stay, the space invites people to slow down and spend more time together. Wood, plaster, stone, natural light, and greenery create a calm setting with a gentle sense of openness. More than a place for shopping, the space becomes a quiet setting for conversation, reflection, and shared moments.

This project is shaped around the idea of growing connection, turning three floors into a gentle emotional journey. The first floor brings together gift selection, tasting, and seating, allowing people to slow down and stay awhile. The second floor uses exhibition and meaningful objects to reconnect visitors with the feeling behind giving. The third floor, with selected goods and tatami seating, offers a quiet place for rest and conversation. Greenery, water, and an S-shaped path soften movement through the space, allowing each transition to unfold more slowly and naturally. Message boards and letter-writing areas invite people to share thoughts and feelings, turning shopping into a more personal and human experience.

Raw concrete, earth, and stone are used throughout the space to create a quiet connection with the land. Soft curves shape the ceilings, columns, and corners, allowing movement to feel safe and relaxed. These rounded forms also bring a gentle sense of closeness between people, turning the brand’s idea of “bond” into something that can be quietly felt through the space.

The spatial journey begins on the first floor with “The Light of Beginning,” where an open retail space and the aroma of coffee welcome visitors. A wooden wall filled with thoughtful phrases quietly invites emotional connection.

On the second floor, “Moments Woven in Light” centers around a long African teak table and carefully displayed personal objects. Together with the letter-writing corner, “Words from the Heart,” the space encourages visitors to reconnect with emotion through writing.

The third floor, “A Timeless Light,” becomes a quiet place for rest and reflection. A simple tatami area, spring water, natural light, and the sound of water come together to create a calm setting for meditation and deep conversation.

Stamp stations are placed throughout the store, guiding visitors to explore each floor step by step. At the end of the journey, the collected marks complete a commemorative postcard, turning the experience into a memory that can be kept a little longer.

The brand embraces material reuse by turning leftover wood from construction into small message plaques engraved with thoughtful words and blessings. Materials once meant to be discarded are quietly given a second life, becoming objects that remain close in daily life.

Outside, an S-shaped “Four Seasons Path” and a rooftop spring are surrounded by abundant planting, helping soften the urban heat and create a gentler microclimate. More than a visual landscape, the space offers nearby residents a shared place to rest and enjoy greenery within the city, allowing the space to stay close to both the land and the community over time.
