Project description
Reflection: A Breathing Boundary is a kinetic fashion project inspired by Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis. Through inflatable structures, the work explores psychological pressure, social identity, and the desire for withdrawal.
Two contrasting looks reflect Gregor Samsa and Kafka himself. The darker silhouette references Gregor’s wounded body, the embedded apple, and his insect-like transformation, while the lighter form represents Kafka’s tension between creative release and everyday pressure.
As the garments repeatedly inflate and deflate, clothing becomes a breathing boundary—offering protection, creating distance, and expressing the unstable relationship between the self and society.
