Project description

A private garden located on the edge of a forest and an old summer cottage settlement. Surrounded by woodland and natural terrain, the site is protected from urban noise and wind, creating a rare sense of seclusion and calm.

The design was developed as a continuation of the existing landscape and the dark architecture of the buildings. Deep green foliage became the dominant language of the garden, creating a restrained and cohesive composition against the dark facades. To ensure beauty throughout the year with minimal maintenance, the planting palette was deliberately kept limited and precise.

Flowering perennials are used sparingly, with geranium and strawberry plants forming subtle seasonal accents. Spiraea and river maple bring structure and colour to the autumn garden, while pines and junipers maintain its character through winter.

Lighting was designed to preserve the atmosphere of the site rather than illuminate it completely. Low and discreet fixtures are placed selectively, almost disappearing into the planting and creating a sense of intimacy and mystery after dark.

The central composition is the rear garden, where a barbecue area, guest house and glamping tent are arranged on a hill. A floating concrete staircase leads to this elevated space, becoming both a functional element and a metaphorical transition from everyday life into a quieter world of rest and connection with nature.

Over time, the garden has become more than a place for occasional country retreats. It has evolved into a setting for everyday life, gatherings with friends and long evenings surrounded by the forest.
