Project description
Rooted in New Orientalism, this work draws inspiration from the “Mulberry Picking” scene in Giuseppe Castiglione’s The Imperial Sericulture Illustrations and the ancient Chinese ballad Caisang Du. Through deconstructed forms and layered materiality, architectural motifs and spatial aesthetics are reinterpreted into contemporary fashion. Integrating intangible cultural heritage crafts—including bamboo and rattan weaving, three-dimensional ribbon embroidery, and mixed-media construction—the work explores the dialogue between tradition and innovation, presenting a contemporary expression of Eastern aesthetics and cultural craftsmanship.
