Project description

Inspired by William Blake’s poem A Poison Tree, this artwork responds to the societal suppression of authentic emotions during growth, where dormant resentment matures over time.

Here, random cardboard triangles of varying sizes symbolize the conflict between a teenager’s inner world and societal values. Stacking, winding upward, and branching out wildly, these irregular shapes mimic the feral growth of a plant—a metaphor for youth breaking free from social frameworks. The seemingly sharp leaves and branches are not meant to harm, but to assert the existence of a unique self.
