Project description

Located in Taipei’s Wenshan District, the residence belongs to a couple who value quality and rhythm in life. The designer proposed the theme of “the rhythm of opening and enclosure in daily living,” responding to modern urban dwellers’ longing for calmness and flexibility amid a hustle city. The overall style is refined and elegant, allowing the boundaries between spaces to expand and contract freely so that work, rest, and family time can shift naturally, shaping a rhythm of life that breathes and reflects.

The most distinctive feature of the design lies in the “duality of space.” In response to modern living patterns, a home should not exist in only one mode. The study is defined by a sliding glass door and motorized curtains—when open, it connects seamlessly with the social area, presenting openness and spaciousness; when closed, it becomes a quiet workspace that ensures focus without distraction. This transformation mechanism allows daily life to switch effortlessly between movement and stillness, symbolizing the breathing rhythm of living.

Another highlight is the multi-functional room, which serves both as a yoga and relaxation space. The bed can be fully folded into the wall, freeing the area for exercise. This flexibility realizes a true balance between “motion” and “stillness.” The entire residence is also equipped with luxury-level kitchen and audio systems, turning every gathering or moment of leisure into a refined, hotel-like experience.

The overall color palette uses creamy white and light wood tones as the base, complemented by soft natural lighting to create a tranquil and warm atmosphere. The social area incorporates dark wood veneer details to enhance texture and layering. The study and dressing areas employ glass and bronze mirrors, reflecting gentle light and shadow to expand the spatial sense visually. The use of metallic lines and concealed lighting strips adds a touch of sleek modernity to the elegant tone.

The residence features a three-room, two-bathroom layout. The designer adjusted the original circulation, aligning the kitchen and dining area along a central axis that extends toward the glass partition of the study, forming a continuous and cohesive main living area. The private area is structured around the walk-in closet and bathrooms, establishing a calm rhythm. The tawny mirrors and soft lighting make the bedroom relaxing and soothing. Each zone is connected by adaptable structures and storage walls, balancing openness and privacy—allowing the home to open and close freely in tune with the rhythm of daily life.

According to the homeowners, the design team demonstrated exceptional responsiveness throughout construction and adjustments, whether addressing unforeseen issues or fine-tuning details, they swiftly optimized the outcome. The owners particularly appreciated the ingenuity of the sliding glass door and motorized curtain system in the study, which allows effortless control between open and private settings, perfectly suiting both home living and remote work needs. After moving in, the flow of light and shadow and sound quality throughout the home met expectations, bringing a sense of comfort, balance, and ease to everyday life.
