Project description

This painting is about me.

Rather than painting a literal self-portrait, I brought together the things I love into a single scene: the sea beyond the window, the transparent jellyfish, the sunlight, and the camera in my hands.

I enjoy photographing the sea, and I have always been drawn to jellyfish. I don't really know why, but they keep appearing in my paintings. It feels as if they have always been with me. Sometimes, they even feel like another version of myself.

In this painting, the figure looks at the jellyfish through a camera lens. What I wanted to capture was not simply seeing it, but preserving that quiet moment.

Sometimes I don't know where my future will lead me or what kind of person I will become. But every time I paint, I feel that I understand myself a little better than I did yesterday.

That is why I named this work Focusing on the Transparent One Before the Unknown. The focus is not only on the jellyfish, but also on the person I am still becoming.
