Project description
This piece begins with bubble tea, one of the most familiar sights on Taiwan's streets, and takes its black pearl into close-up — the single detail that makes it recognisable worldwide. Up close, the pearl's grain and sheen carry an unexpected tension, marking the starting point for a colour experiment. The familiar black gives way to a warm, sugar-pink palette, drawn from the lingering sweetness and ease of a freshly made pearl. Carried out through Photoshop's AI-powered tools and layered compositing, the colour builds into a continuous gradient, and the black disappears, yet the pearl's round contour and glossy sheen remain. It is an experiment in how colour can be renegotiated — and in what a close-up reveals once it is.
