Project description
Traces of Order is a series of three mixed-media works created with stone powder recycled from marble waste produced in stone-cutting factories in Hualien, Taiwan. The powder, derived from industrial sludge, is blended with acid-free resin and water, then combined with discarded newspapers and pencil drawings on canvas. Through transforming waste materials into visual compositions, this work reflects on the relationship between nature and human intervention, as well as the cycle of material reuse.
Fragments of paper and traces of dust are layered, torn, and rearranged, forming an imperfect yet rhythmic structure. The accidental stains and irregular surfaces are not hidden; instead, they become part of the work’s language. Each mark and residue reveals the coexistence of chaos and order, echoing how control and unpredictability intertwine in creation. The process is both a conversation with material and an act of acceptance—embracing imperfection as a kind of balance. Within this quiet disorder, I search for a personal rhythm, a voice only I can hear.
