Project description
As the homeowner entered a new stage of life, she sought a home that would better align with her daily rhythm while welcoming friends and gatherings. She valued Feng Shui principles and effective storage, hoping for a space that would feel both soothing and sociable. Guided by the principles of warmth, practicality, and order, the design resolved beam positions and circulation constraints through curved forms and light flow, creating a sense of calm and ease.
The entrance integrates a bench and semi-transparent screen to mitigate Feng Shui’s “direct line” issue while maintaining visual openness. In the living-dining area, large curved ceilings envelop structural beams, turning them into gentle visual arcs that guide a rhythm of light. The main TV wall consolidates extensive hidden storage, replacing costly materials with strategic integration of system cabinetry and accent paint to achieve visual harmony. Clean, continuous lines conceal access to the secondary bedroom behind a hidden door, delineating social and private areas while broadening the overall width.
The color palette contrasts light, warm hues in the living room with deep gray tones in the dining area, echoing the original door color. Through accent coatings, the designers achieved overall unity within budget constraints. The spatial concept follows the idea of “gathering and dispersing with ease”—a place comfortable for long sitting, with generous storage yet an uncluttered feel.
Durability and sustainability guided material selection. System cabinetry with replaceable modules and scratch-resistant flooring reduce long-term maintenance costs. Walls feature subtly iridescent special paint, smooth and understated, yet reflective under natural light. In the afternoon, light diffuses along the curved ceiling, dissolving harsh beam edges. Consistent cabinet rhythm and laminate flooring balance budget and longevity. Lighting employs warm-white tones with deeper gray trims, softening facial tones for both family and guests while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
The site measures 136 square meters. The original four-bedroom layout was preserved, with focus placed on organizing the social area. The entrance now includes a bench and semi-transparent screen, while the living-dining area unites the ceiling through large arcs that envelop beams. The integrated TV wall merges storage and circulation, concealing the doorway to the private area. Circulation flows clearly from entry to dining and living areas, with seating oriented toward one another rather than the corridor, allowing greater intimacy during gatherings.
Home is “a place that lightens the weight of daily life.” The homeowner describes the greatest joy as “finally having a home that welcomes friends with ease.” Daily life remains efficient for one person, with every belonging having its place. When guests arrive, shoes, bags, and tableware find their spots instantly. Visiting elders particularly praised the curved ceiling and warm-toned walls, while the deep-gray dining accent serves as a visual pause—reminding everyone to slow down, take their time, and enjoy conversation。
