Project description
Yufuin presents a mature and atmospheric interpretation of resort design, successfully transforming the imagery of a Japanese ryokan into a calm, contemporary retreat within Hualien’s natural landscape. The project is especially compelling in its layered spatial sequence, moving from reception, tea room, guest room, bathing area, and outdoor scenery with a strong sense of privacy, rhythm, and emotional transition. A small suggestion would be to further refine the balance between Japanese references and local Hualien material identity, so the project can express not only the spirit of Yufuin but also a more distinctive sense of place. Overall, this is an elegant, immersive, and emotionally resonant hospitality interior with strong spatial storytelling and resort-level atmosphere.
